OUR HISTORY

Journey Of Faith

The Anglican Diocese of Ogoja was inagurated on thursday 4th december,2005 emerging from a desire to foster spiritual
growth and community service in Ogoja Region and beyond.
The mission in Ogoja was established by faithful and zealous brothers and sisters from the old Abakaliki Archdeaconry
under the old Enugu Diocese of the Anglican Communion. It began with a small group of dedicated believers who
gathered for worship and fellowship in makeshift venues. Over the years, the mission grew, expanding its
reach across various communities in Northern Cross River State, Nigeria. The pioneer bishop,Rt. Ifeanyi Akunna,
a visionary leader, has been working hard to enhance mission and evangelism underscoring the importance of education
and healthcare, leading initiatives aimed at establishing schools and hospitals in underserved areas
Today, the diocese continues to thrive, focusing on evangelism, social justice, and the
empowerment of local congregations, all while remaining deeply rooted in the Anglican tradition.
